What’s Brewing: Alewerks Brewing Company to open second taproom next month

Alewerks Brewing Company next month will open a 3,000-square-foot tasting room at Williamsburg Premium Outlets.  It’s only about a half mile from the existing brewery, but the goal is new customers.

“The opportunity presented itself to reach a new audience that may not be very familiar with Alewerks, but (also) not familiar with craft beer in general,” said Jeff Phillips, the brewery’s marketing director.

He said it will be more of a “mainstream” taproom, with 10 beers on tap and a 3-barrell brewing system. This weekend in the original taproom, Alewerks will bring back Lover’s Greed, a wild ale that hasn’t been available for the past three years. It’s been aging in red wine barrels.

Other things to look forward to this week:

Bells Beach Galaxy Saison, O’Connor Brewing Company. (Friday)

Strawberry Belgian Blonde, Coelacanth Brewing Company. (Saturday)

Brewgrass Festival, The Oozlefinch Craft Brewery (Sunday)
